After seven years, the Epic Games Store enables gifting

Newsbrief: After seven years since its launch, the Epic Games Store has enabled gifting between users.

As announced yesterday, players can now purchase and send games directly to friends via Epic. The act is simple: pick a game, select "Buy as a Gift," select the recipient, choose whether to schedule the delivery for a certain date, and complete the purchase.

Recipients have 14 days to accept or decline the gift. If they choose the latter, or if they already own the game, the purchase is refunded.

Epic says that gifting supports "paid games, editions, durable add-ons, and eligible bundles," while "free games, pre-purchase offers, subscriptions, and in-game currency or other consumable items" are excluded.

Gifting is currently limited to friends in the same region, although cross-region gifting is planned for a future update.
