Roblox announces AI-powered object and scene creation model

Roblox has announced a new AI tool that can be used to generate functional 3D objects, scenes, and more. The company described the tech as an instance of '4D Generation.'
In a blog post on the Roblox website, company senior vice president of engineering, Anupam Singh, explained the toolset is now available in open beta. Singh said the tech is powered by a proprietary "Cube Foundation Model" that "adds the dimension of interactivity to generate functional 3D objects so they behave the way players expect."
"Once a creator enables 4D generation in an experience, players can use a simple text prompt to generate a fully functional car, get in it, and drive it around," he added.
The feature, available within Roblox Studio, will purportedly "unlock new types of gameplay and player engagement." The example included in the news is called Wish Master, which presents a sandbox setting where players can type down "dreams" and see them materialize. Some prompts on display include "cyberpunk city," "tank," and "spawn shopkeepers."
The team behind Wish Master wants to create a new AI model for outfit generation, a build mode, and a player-versus-player mode. According to the news, during early access, players generated over 160,000 using 4D generation.
Roblox Corp's ambition for the future is for the tech behind 4D generation and Cube to eventually allow creators to "generate full scenes, including assets, environments, code, animations, and more with natural language prompts."
Some other goals are a bit more abstract, with the company using the phrase "real-time dreaming" for an ongoing research project.
"The next frontier of creation on Roblox is the continued AI-driven evolution of our creation platform that will allow creators to generate immersive environments, iterate, debug, and collaborate with their teams all through natural language prompts."
According to the 2026 State of the Game Industry report, 36 percent of game industry professionals are using generative AI tools as part of their job. Half of them, however, think the technology has a negative impact on the industry, echoing concerns and skepticism throughout last year.
Despite this, Roblox announced its plans to "empower" creators with generative AI-based tools back in September of last year. Alongside the aforementioned 4D asset generation, the company also mentioned real-time voice chat translation.
"Our goal is for developers to have the opportunity to transform their ideas into growing businesses," said Nick Tornow, Roblox senior vice president of engineering at the time. "Time and again, we see that when we give our creators powerful tools and opportunities, they create things that inspire us by pushing the boundaries of creative possibility. At Roblox, better tools, including many with AI capabilities, will help creators get from idea to shared reality faster."
It's worth mentioning that the company has had no shortage of issues regarding moderation and player safety, especially around its younger crowd. Throughout 2025, a new lawsuit accused Roblox of knowingly enabling the "systemic sexual exploitation and abuse of children across the United States." A few weeks prior to the news, the company introduced a "sensitive issues" tag for social, political, and religious experiences within the platform. Intended for parental control purposes, the descriptor applies user-generated experiences that include mentions or elements related to vaccination policies, gun control, marriage quality, reproductive rights, and others.
