Embracer subsidiary Tripwire Interactive has laid off 23 employees

Killing Floor developer and publisher Tripwire Interactive has laid off 23 employees. The company said the cuts were made to accommodate the evolving needs of its business.
"We regrettably confirm that our studio has recently undergone a workforce reduction which has affected 23 people from across different areas," reads a post on LinkedIn (spotted by GamesIndustry.biz).
"This was an incredibly difficult decision and was heavily deliberated given the impact of those affected, along with the overall team."
Tripwire is currently owned by Embracer Group, which acquired the U.S. company in 2022 for an undisclosed fee.
Embracer housed the company within its Saber Interactive subsidiary before the division was divested for $247 million in 2024. Post-divestment, Embracer retained ownership of Tripwire (and other assets) and relocated the studio within its newly-restructured business.
Tripwire said it remains committed to developing titles internally and supporting projects released through its Tripwire Presents publishing label. It's unclear which divisions were impacted by the cuts.
The news comes just weeks after Norse: Oath of Blood, a turn-based tactics game published by Tripwire and developed by Arctic Hazard, hit shelves.
Tripwire also continues to support Killing Floor 3 with seasonal updates, the last of which landed on December 4, 2025.
In a note on its website, Tripwire explained its self-published titles have amassed over 40 million players worldwide. The studio also said it has grown to over 100 employees since opening its doors in 2005—although it's unclear when the information on its webpage was last updated.
