TT Games veteran opens UK studio Second Star Games

Former TT Games managing director Tom Stone has launched a new UK studio called Second Star Games.

Second Star is based in Manchester and will focus on creating interactive experiences for young players and families.

Stone has staffed the nascent studio by assembling team of industry veterans, including many who worked alongside him on the LEGO franchise at TT Games.

The studio's debut title will be a fantasy adventure called Neverland: A Peter Pan Adventure.

As the name implies, the project will be set within the world of Neverland and has been greenlit after Second Star secured a long-term, worldwide, exclusive license to develop a suite of games around the IP from perpetual rights holder Great Ormond Street Hospital (GOSH).

GOSH is one of the world's leading children's hospitals and provides life-changing treatment and care to over 750 young patients each day.

Peter Pan and Wendy author J.M Barrie donated the rights to GOSH in 1929 after he was asked to sit on a committee by the hospital. Instead, he felt offering the institute the rights to his series would have a greater impact.

GOSH's charity arm will receive royalties from all sales of Neverland: A Peter Pan Adventure.

"We are delighted to be working with expert partners Second Star Games to bring the magical world of Neverland to life for a generation of young gamers," said GOSH Charity's senior brand licensing manager, Jenny Martin. "Neverland, a place of adventure and imagination, provides an amazing backdrop to what we know will be a first-class game."
