Newsbrief: Screen Australia has invested $1.4 million into 26 video game projects crafted by local studios and teams. The government-backed agency said the cash will support the creation of original titles "centered on Australian stories and ideas."

The financing was handed out through the Games Production and Emerging Gamemakers funds. Recipients include Decaying Salvage developer Stasis Booth Games, Little Ruin maker Lucernal, and Delverium creator Sagestone Games.

Screen Australia head of games, Joey Egger, said supporting local game creators remains an "essential" part of the agency's remit.

"Having Australian funding support for games is essential for building a resilient and innovative games sector for the next five, ten, twenty years," he added. "Its also inspiring to see creators from diverse backgrounds like architecture, animation and the performing arts working hand-in-hand with some of our more experienced gamemakers."
