Epic Games is reportedly working on a Fortnite-based extraction shooter featuring Disney characters. Four sources familiar with the situation told Bloomberg the mystery project will launch in November 2026.

It is described as a shooter that shares similarities with genre-leader Arc Raiders, and will see players in the guise of Disney characters battling enemies in a bid to reach an extraction point.

Internal reviewers have reportedly expressed concern that the experience lacks originality, but some Epic staffers believe those pain points will be addressed in time for launch.

Disney invested $1.5 billion into Epic Games back in 2024 to cultivate an IP-rich "entertainment universe."

The Fortnite maker, however, recently laid off over 1,000 workers and said engagement in its flagship title is waning. It also axed a number of Fortnite experiences such as Fortnite Rocket Racing.

The Disney deal will reportedly result in three titles overall. The second has purportedly received middling internal reviews. Meanwhile, it's claimed that some resources for the third have been reallocated to the extraction shooter after Disney raised concerns over Epic's release timelines.

Epic senior director of global communications, Liz Marksman, told Bloomberg its reporting is not "reflective of the ambitions of the Disney collaboration."

"We are building a new games and entertainment universe of Disney experiences," she added. "Epic's timelines are aggressive and always have been. We've heavily moved developers onto projects with releases approaching, while smaller prototyping teams are working on further-off projects."

A Disney representative said the company remains focused on its long-term collaboration with Epic.
