Split Fiction dev Hazelight Studios accrues 50M total sales
It Takes Two and Split Fiction maker Hazelight Studios has accrued over 50 million total sales across its three games.
The developer shared the milestone via social media yesterday. The full breakdown goes like this: A Way Out sold 13 million, It Takes Two sold 30 million, and Split Fiction sold seven million. It's taken the games eight, five, and finally one year to reach the figures, respectively.
All games from Hazelight are designed to be played in co-op. The 50 million sales figure showcases the ongoing demand for the genre, with the likes of Kepler Interactive's upcoming Switch 2 exclusive Orbitals looking for a piece of that pie.
While Hazelight specializes on two-player games, titles such as Peak, which sold 4.5 million copies within a month, also reinforce the current attention around multiplayer games.
Split Fiction, released on March 6 of last year, accrued a million sales within 48 hours of launch, making it the studio's fastest-selling game to date. At the moment, Hazelight is working on a fourth, yet-to-be-announced game.
In a talk at GDC Festival of Gaming 2026, level designer Hannes Gille broke down Split Fiction's final stage, talking about how, early on in development, the studio discussed the idea of centering the whole game about its novel mechanic. Yet, this was scrapped, and saved as a grand finale instead.
