Netflix launches 'Playground' video game app for children

U.S. streamer Netflix has launched a video game app for children called Netflix Playground. The new offering is being positioned as an "all-in-one" application designed specifically for kids aged 8 and younger.
Playground is available to all Netflix subscribers and does not include advertisements or in-app purchases. It grants access to a library of instantly playable games based on franchises like Peppa Pig and Sesame Street. Notably, all of those experiences are also available offline.
"We're building a world where kids can not only watch their favorite stories, they can step inside them and interact with their favorite characters," said John Derderian, Netflix VP of animation series and kids & family TV, in a press release. "We're creating a seamless destination for discovery, learning, and play."
Netflix Playground is now available in the United States, Canada, New Zealand, Australia, the United Kingdom, and the Philippines on supported smartphones and tablets. It will launch globally on April 28, 2026.
Netflix continues to tinker with its video game offering. Earlier this year, the company said cloud-based TV titles and party games are a "big priority" in 2026. Prior to that, Netflix downscaled its internal development teams by shuttering Boss Fight Entertainment and divesting Spry Fox.
