Halo Infinite will receive its final major update on November 18, 2025, to allow Halo Studios to refocus on developing new titles.

The shooter launched around four years ago in December 2021 and was initially billed by developer Halo Studios (formerly known as 343 Industries) as an evolving experience that could last for a decade.

"Halo Infinite is the start of our platform for the future," said Halo Infinite studio head Chris Lee during an interview with IGN in 2020. "We want Infinite to grow over time, versus going to those numbered titles and having all that segmentation that we had before. Its really about creating Halo Infinite as the start of the next ten years for Halo and then building that as we go with our fans and community."

After a turbulent few years at Microsoft and Halo Studios, however, the title is being placed on the back burner.

"With multiple Halo titles in development, well need our whole team's combined focus to deliver new experiences with the same passion and care that our community has given us," reads a blog post published by Halo Studios over the weekend. "While we remain committed to supporting Halo Infinite on the road ahead, Operation: Infinite is the last major content update currently planned."

Halo Studios is currently working on Halo: Campaign Evolved, a remake of the original Halo campaign being developed for Xbox Series X S, PlayStation 5, and PC in 2026.

It's unclear what other Halo projects the studio, which has been forced to deal with a number of senior departures in recent years, currently has in the pipeline.

Back in 2023, Halo Studios head of live service, Sean Baron, said Halo Infinite had become a "consistent" live service title in terms of content, but conceded the team needed to improve the "technical and experiential quality" on offer.

Halo Studios will continue supporting Halo Infinite with challenges, ranked seasons and rewards, and community events.
