Texas attorney general Ken Paxton is suing Roblox maker Roblox Corp for allegedly platforming pedophiles. The move means the U.S. video game company is being sued by the State of Texas.

In a press release published on X, Paxton said Roblox Corp has placed the interests of "pixel pedophiles and profits over the safety of Texas children."

"We cannot allow platforms like Roblox to continue operating as digital playgrounds for predators where the well-being of our kids is sacrificed on the altar of corporate greed," he added.

Paxton claimed Roblox Corp is ignoring state and federal online safety laws while "deceiving" parents about the dangers of its platform. He said Roblox markets itself as a "safe digital space of creativity" but has actually become a "breeding ground" for predators.

Paxton said children in Texas have been "repeatedly exposed to sexually explicit content, exploitation, and grooming" as a result.

Roblox Corp, which has faced a number of lawsuits and allegations related to child safety issues on its platform, told the BBC the lawsuit is based on "misrepresentations and sensationalized claims" and said it shares Paxton's commitment to keeping children safe online.

Roblox boasted over 151 million daily active users (DAUs) as of September 30, 2025. That included a peak of over 45 million concurrent users.

Roblox Corp CEO insists the platform is laser-focused on child safety

Speaking to investors during a Q3 earnings call on October 30, 2025, Roblox Corp founder and CEO, David Baszucki, said two thirds of those DAUs are aged 13 and over and reiterated that safety remains a "top priority."

"We believe as new technology rolls out, it allows us to harvest and use this technology for continued advancements in safety and civility. We've also released over 100 innovations this year in our safety and civility group, including an announcement that we're going to be adopting IARC, an International Age Rating Coalition rating over the next few quarters," he added.

"And we've raised our minimum age for restricted content to really the global standard of 18 years old. I want to highlight, we do run stricter than typical industry policies on Roblox. We believe it's an essential strategic investment to how we run the company."

Baszucki said the company is committed to implementing additional safety measures even if they cause "short-term headwinds."

Even so, Roblox Corp is struggling to shake accusations that it has ultimately profited by disregarding the wellbeing of its young users. Last month, the State of Florida launched a criminal investigation into the company after accusing it of failing to protect children from inappropriate content. Roblox Corp described those claims as "false."

Prior to that, the State of Louisiana sued the company for allegedly enabling the "sexual exploitation" of minors. Roblox Corp said that lawsuit was littered with "erroneous claims and misconceptions."

Back in March, Baszucki spoke to BBC News about the platforms purported issues with safety and suggested that parents should, first and foremost, refuse to let their children access Roblox if they aren't "comfortable" with the situation. "That sounds a little counter-intuitive, but I would always trust parents to make their own decisions," he added.
