Halfbrick Studios is cutting jobs in Australia

Jetpack Joyride and Fruit Ninja developer Halfbrick Studios is making an undisclosed number of layoffs.
The studio said the cuts will impact employees based in Australia and result in the conclusion of "a number of engagements internationally."
Halfbrick was established in Brisbane, Australia but now describes itself as a fully-remote studio. The company said it is downsizing in order to navigate a "challenging period."
"These changes are driven by organizational and strategic priorities, not individual performance," reads a statement posted on LinkedIn.
"The most important thing to say is this: the people affected by this decision have made meaningful contributions to Halfbrick. They have helped shape our games, supported our players, and been an important part of this studio. We are sincerely grateful for everything they have brought to the company."
Although perhaps best known for producing mobile titles, Halfbrick also develops video games for PC and console platforms. That includes its latest project, Blueys Quest for The Gold Pen, which launched in December 2025.
The company also brought its Fruit Ninja series to VR platforms with the launch of Fruit Ninja VR and Fruit Ninja VR 2 in 2016 and 2021, respectively.
Halfbrick has implored studios with job openings to consider hiring its former employees.
"Halfbrick has always cared deeply about the people we bring in, and there is exceptional talent among those now looking for their next opportunity," added the studio. "Our focus right now is on handling this transition with care, respect, and genuine appreciation for the people who have contributed so much to Halfbrick."
