Until Dawn remake dev Ballistic Moon is dissolved

访客2小时前news309

Ballistic Moon, the studio behind the Until Dawn remake, has seemingly dissolved.

As reported by GamingBolt, the news is based on paperwork filed with the UK government, where the developer is based. The public record shows a final gazette issued on February 3, which says "dissolved via voluntary strike-off." The PDF attached notes January 21 as the strike off date of the company, with February 3 as the dissolution date.

Previous paperwork trails back to November 3, when Ballistic Moon appears to have filed an application to strike the company off the register. A first gazette notice for voluntary strike-off was registered on November 11, followed by multiple documents on November 21. These involve changing the registered office address, as well as individual service addresses for three staff members: owner and director Duncan Kershaw, technical director Chris Lennox-Lamb, and creative director Neil McEwan.

According to LinkedIn, Kershaw seems to have started a private startup in October 2025. Then, McEwan's tenure spans from April 2019 to July 2025.

All three developers were former staff at Supermassive Games, the studio that worked on the original release of Until Dawn, as well as Until Dawn: Rush of Blood, published by PlayStation Studios.

Ballistic Moon has been in dire straits for some time. A report in March of last year claimed that only the founders and a "handful" of employees remained on staff. At the time, sources alleged the UK developer had "effectively closed," claiming that Ballistic Moon had laid off 20 employees—in addition to a layoff round in September 2024, where the company let go of around 40 people.

Those same sources claimed the remaining staff included founders Kershaw, McEwan, and Lamb, and "possibly" a handful of employees. According to the report, the company was still active in "technical terms," but the founders had reportedly failed to secure funding or a new publisher. More work from Sony was apparently discussed, such as funding for more updates to the remake, but those funds never manifested.

Game Developer has contacted Ballistic Moon and PlayStation for clarification on the matter.
