EA has laid off an undisclosed number of Battlefield developers just months after the record-breaking launch of Battlefield 6.

An EA spokesperson told Game Developer the U.S. publisher has made "select changes" within its Battlefield division—which comprises internal studios Criterion, DICE, Ripple Effect, and Motive.

"We've made select changes within our Battlefield organization to better align our teams around what matters most to our community. Battlefield remains one of our biggest priorities, and were continuing to invest in the franchise, guided by player feedback and insights from Battlefield Labs," said a company spokesperson.

It's unclear how many people have been impacted by the reorganization, although IGN understands there have been layoffs across all four studios within the division.

The news comes around four months after EA said Battlefield 6 shattered records to deliver the "biggest launch in franchise history."

"Electronic Arts and Battlefield Studios have revealed that Battlefield 6, the ultimate all-out warfare experience, is a record-breaking success, shattering long-standing records for the Battlefield franchise—solidifying Battlefield 6 as one of the biggest gaming and entertainment launches of the year," reads a statement shared by the company on October 24, 2025.

The shooter sold 7 million copies within three days of launching on October 10, 2025.

EA is in the process of being taken private by an investor consortium that includes Saudi sovereign wealth fund, PIF. If the proposed take private is approved by regulators, PIF will hold a 93.4 percent stake in the game industry juggernaut.

This is the second round of cuts at EA in as many months. In February, the company laid off an undisclosed number of employees at Skate developer Full Circle.
