Sony to increase PlayStation hardware prices in Southeast Asia

访客3小时前news383

Sony is yet again raising the price of PlayStation hardware, this time focusing on Southeast Asian countries.

The company announced the price increase back in late March. Yesterday, Sony updated the announcement to say prices are going up on May 1.

The decision behind the pricing is due to "continued pressures in the global economic landscape," according to the company.

"We know that price changes impact our community, and after careful evaluation, we found this was a necessary step to ensure we can continue delivering innovative, high-quality gaming experiences to players worldwide," the announcement reads.

This statement reads the same as it did in March, when Sony unveiled the new recommended retail pricing for hardware in the United States, effective April 2. The company had previously revised hardware pricing in the US in August 2025. At the time, the company said the move was necessary in order to navigate a "challenging economic environment."

For a broader context, both Microsoft and Nintendo have also revised the price of hardware and accessories in recent months. Meanwhile, Valve delayed pricing and shipping announcements for its upcoming Steam Machine as a direct result of the RAM shortage. Nintendo president Shuntaro Furukawa also said the situation could "put pressure on profitability."

The PlayStation Blog post now includes the exact pricing range for Southeast Asia, which is as follows:
